Dr. Ravikanth Kongara trained in DNB(Diplomat of National Board, New Delhi) surgical gastroenterology (3 yr superspeciality- after post graduation) from prestigious NIMS(Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences) Hyderabad. He has special interest in Bariatric Surgery. He pursued advanced training in bariatric and metabolic surgery in A.Z. Niklass, Belgium.
He was born in Huzur nagar village of Nalgonda district in 1980. His schooling upto 10th class (SSC) was in the Telugu medium chaitanya school, Huzurnagar village, Nalgonda district.
He did his MBBS from kakatiya Medical college, Warangal. Later he got state 10th rank in PG entrance test and opted for M.S(Master of Surgery) from Osmania Medical college- Hyderabad.
After his Post graduation he got 1st rank in DNB superspeciality entrance test conducted by National Board of examination(New Delhi) and opted for DNB in surgical Gastroenterology from NIMS-Hyderabad.
He was one of the pioneers of bariatric surgery in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
He is doing highest number of bariatric surgeries per month in south India.
He performed bariatric surgeries on one of the most difficult ,toughest and most risky patients who are more than 200 to 250 kg. Total 25 super Obese patients who are >200 kg operated by him.
He performed bariatric surgery on his mother 3yr ago to relieve her of her diabetes and 80 units of insulin.
